New Afan Oromo Book: “Galaa Ogeettii” by Bahru Bayisa

Gadaa.com

My new Afaan Oromo poetry book titled “Galaa Ogeettii” is now published! It’s about our socio-cultural experiences and the existential agonies we, the Oromo, experienced individually and as a people. However, I wrote the book mostly in terms of the love, patience, and hope that sustained us through all these challenges. The title literally refers to the traditional food that our mothers, who are skilled cooks, send with us when we go long distances. We eat them under the shade of a tree.

Symbolically, “Galaa Ogeettii” refers to a legacy. A legacy that our kind and selfless mothers passed to us such us the love for our communities, education, and all that matter most in our daily lives.
