Revisionists March dressed up in Nationalists Disguise to Lay Siege on Oromo Struggle

By Leenjiso Horo*

“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross,” –Sinclair Lewis, author of “It Can’t Happen Here,” 1935

Introduction
Not so long ago, with the rise of fascism in Germany, Italy and Japan in 1930s, there was a widespread fear in America that America could be over taken by a fascist dictatorship. This fear was captured by Sinclair Lewis, in the above noted statement. In this article, the goal is not to discuss fascism but to show how the Oromo revisionists have used the similar methods to throw the Oromo nationals into political confusion so as to support them and abandon the struggle for independence of Oromia.

The interest of this article is to show a game of political double play by the Oromo political revisionists of various sorts to hide their betrayal of Oromo struggle behind the slogans in their attempt to alter the battle of political narratives of national struggle so as to throw Oromo nationals into political confusion. That is, to show how and why Oromo nationals have been wrenched away from the Kaayyoo Bilisummaa they believed in and are now being dragged toward politics of ‘democratization of Empire State of Ethiopia’. This takes us to carefully and thoughtfully examine and understand their unprincipled games of political double play in using slogans. We need to understand this game and comprehend it, in order to wake up; to rise up and fight back.

By now, it is crystal clear that the Shanee faction or the Asmara group has replaced the struggle for independence of Oromiyaa with struggle for “democratization of Ethiopia.” This changed the dynamics of political discourse and led the members not merely to take a different political position but to a sharply divergent and diametrically opposite political position on the issue of struggle for independence of Oromiyaa. This difference is a difference in vision. The difference is not only a difference in visions but the visions themselves are irreconcilably in conflict. Indeed, Shanee’s action created an irreconcilable conflict of visions. It was because of this conflict of visions that every attempt to resolve the political and ideological conflicts among the factions within the OLF had failed. Here maybe some nationals are more familiar with this than some others. To make it crystal clear to all, the reason for the failure was that the Asmara groups have been unable to reconcile themselves with the road that leads to the independence of Oromiya. Hence, their road to “democratization of Ethiopia” is irreconcilably in direct conflict with the road to the independence of Oromiya. That is the main the reason for the failure.

    Leenjisoo,
I thought you could be better after more than 10 years, but you are still sick. Look what you said about Shanee and read the statement of Shanee on distortion of Kaayyoo by jijjiiramaa.

“By now, it is crystal clear that the Shanee faction or the Asmara group has replaced the struggle for independence of Oromiyaa with struggle for “democratization of Ethiopia.” (Leenjisoo)

“…the right to self-determination up to and including independence is the right of any nation
enshrined in the UN charter that no entity can negate or abridge other than the concerned people
themselves who can decide through free universal suffrage. Anything short of acceptance of this right
will only prolong the agony of the peoples in Ethiopia who have been victims of the conflict between
those who want to perpetuate the conquest under the phoney unity and those who want to reverse the
    conquest.” (Shanee’s current press release)

    Read the Shanee statement here:
    http://www.oromoliberationfront.org/News/2011/OLF_Statement_January_2012.pdf

Is this statement of Shanee “democratization of Ethiopia” to you? Really?

This article is too long, but it doesn’t need one to read the entire 14 pages to get the point. I want my brother ‘Leenjisoo’ to retract some of his words that I thought were improper and out of place. OLF is out there not to confuse the Oromo people and undermine the Oromo struggle but to grant them their inalienable right to self determination. You and I are talking on the stage that the OLF leveled for us; otherwise we would have been our own nests. It sacrificed dearly to make you and I wake up and claim Oromumma. OLF has never failed, it registered success after success including firing you up to right/insult like this. Your article is intimidating. One can give the correct and accurate response for every piece of sentence you got down. But this is not the time for us to bite each other. There is a big task in front of us. Our children are facing the enemy at home on daily basis and falling. We better report on that and support that in every way we can.

Please keep this agenda for later. If u have to fight this way turn your pen against those who betrayed the Oromo cause and surrendered to those who enslaved us.

Obo Leenjiso Good to here from you though your article is self contradictory for those who kows you years back. The issue is not educating The Oromoos what the Shanee or the others did to get to where we are now.The issue is lack of vision. You may disagree with me on this if you want but this is the realty. You know it as well as I know in any political struggle there is no one way only.To advance the struggle at hand flexblity and change tactics to make one step ahead doesn’t hurt.By the way the diaspora is NOT the deciding body.So don’t make big deal out of nothing.I rather listen to the Oromoos in side since they are the altimate dicision makers.Sorry to bring up this talking of double standard, few years back you had multi national stand to the extent of posturing Internationalist. The way I see it you lack marol authority to acuse others for having double standard. So first renounce the old stand youd had few years back and declare yourself Natoinalist so that we can listen to you.

. Abbo Leenjiisoo? Is it? I am not sure. If it is, I am sorry; your article is out of moral standard aimed at dividing the Oromo at Diasporas and back at home. This precious time is, a time of discussion among the Oromo people to strengthen their unity. You should be out of touch of the oromo people to write such dubious opinion at this particular time. It is not appropriate to point a finger against each other and blaming one another at this moment. This type of deep rooted divisive idea should be from individuals that use oromomumma cover up to weaken the oromo struggle. Brother, if you are not aware about current situation of the oromos people ,let me tell you that oromos are against divisive individuals ; have no time to listen to your poisonous words ; so busy working on unity for oromumma, and waliigaltumma. Lenjiisoo, sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obbo leenjiso thank you so much, to show us clearly what happened to our struggle and what is gose wrong. History is good will teach you to correct the psst. Shanee groups stop cry learn from obbo Leenjiso. He shows you who you are in the mirir now you can see what you did to the Oromo struggle. Jijjirama is shanee’s son that is why they hijacked the shanee’s ajanda.

To begin with your paragraphs in your article strongly contradict. It would probabilly take you hundred times to re-read your own article and understand what you are trying to say as well as where the contradictions lie. Second, when you critisize Oromo leaders for taking side with Democracy your critical stand point automatically reveals your identity as what they say “wolf in sheep’s clothing”. For us to understand reality better, we must know that it has not been only Oromo leaders who are siding with the concept of Democracy but it’s been also seen from Oromo people. There fore, when you critisize democracy we would only be left with one option that you are of fascists and thus secretly supporting same brutal government that has embarked onto ensalving Oromia regions inhabitants. It is terribly difficult to detect a single statement of yours in your article that could have reflected you as some one true Oromo fighter or real Oromo struggle supporter. Even though, for the sake of the truth, you seem of condemning divisions among Oromo organizations your condemnation of the divisions clearly appears “fishy”. First of all, for Oromo people or their leaders to take on democracy is a Blessing. How else could YOU fight for your rights ? Democracy must form base of our movement for independence. Third, Politics make a structure to any movement in modern day societies there fore is highly important. To make simple building and strengthening communities in Oromia regions is part of a political game and strategy for fighting for our rights. Are we doing these ? Ofcourse no . Why ? Because regressed individuals like you who have no idea of what they are talking about have been insisting on that Oromo fighters should remain sleepy in the forest rather than changing equations and stand up for their rights. Also, while standing up for your rights constitutes part of politics, financing Oromo organizations and communties as well as the people is important part of politics.

This man’s writing is full of lies. Too many to count. Indeed this man must be an agent! Others wise why does he attack the struggle of our people for which thousands of Oromo daughters and sons have shade and continue to shade their blood. I thought he could have read the latest political program of the OLF. To those of you who know this man – has he ever written any thing on the enemy of our people? I very much doubt. Compatriots, why does this man consider the vanguard of the Oromo national liberation struggle, the OLF/ABO, his enemy. Indeed, he must be an agent of our enemy.

By the way, there are not two or three OLFs. There is only one OLF. There is not OLF group known by the name Shanee. This must be the invention of those who don’t want to see the progress of our struggle for freedom.

The Oromo national liberation struggle shall triumph!

    HI Obbo Leenjisoo,
Reading your articles used to be the most fascinated in terms of insightful for our national struggle and as such a popular article after Obbo Ibsaa’s among the Oromo nationalists. But, this time when we need our traditional Tumsa as an urgent for our Tokkummaa more than ever, you failed from our expectations and it seems to me you will soon loose our popular trust in considering you as a one who enjoys when our internal affairs threatened by our historical enemies . You would have come up with a timely proposal for our unification against our enemies rather than a paralizing one of such article.
In every movement there were/are strategical differences how to reach the outlined project, but at a time when the external forces attack one of theirs that differences transforme into a national unity against all odds. We observed in Croatia in 1992 when the Serbs helped by Russians tried to divide the Croatian nationalists into democratic movements and indipendists which soon resulted for the two unification under the leadership of FRANCO TUD’MAN against the external interference what described as the Pan-Croation in the Balcan. Indeed,in 1993 by storm -operation,the Croatians reconquered their lost territories. The same goes to Scottish nationalists too who were suffered by divide and rule under one of the most powerfull empire of the contemporary world for the last 300 years, but finally they did it in 1997 by the true partisan of Scottish nationalists like Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and ROBIN COOC even when they were at the Helm in serving the empire.La historia fatta-history beng done.
We need such determined Visionaries based on true Oromummaa capable of unitying us aganist the very weak, a too tired chauvinsts as the last attempt to survive. Our Tokkummaa is as a response for such march and Oromians too make a history like Croatians and Scottish at any time as nationalism wins over lies and injustice.

Obboo Leenjiso, thank you. This is good article. It is an educational article. I learned a lot from it. As it is said, truth is bitter than fiction. For irrational Ethiopianist Oromos, this information is bitter. For the rational true Oromos who want to known the problems and what went wrong, it is sweet. We learn from it. To learn the truth, the truth is this. If we know the problems, we can solved it. If we do not known problems because the information is hidden, we cannont solve anything. Let informaton come out. And then let us use the information to solve the problems. Thank you again Obbo Leenjiso

    Obbo Leenjiso,

The confussion has been created when OLF submitted its power to TPLF in 1989. I hope one day Oromo will be out of such confussion and find the way how to push forward for independent Oromia. Whether you call independent or democratisation of Ethiopia, the future is for Oromo.
